Developing Leaders Day, AIESEC UTM

Two weeks ago, I was invited to speak to a group of young leaders for the Developing Leaders Day organized by AIESEC Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. This is a part of my mission and strategy of increasing Financial Intelligence of young Malaysians!

My name is Jean Yeoh, and I am a AIESEC member from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. I attended an event “Developing Leaders Day”, which was organized by AIESEC Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. There were a few talks by several external personnels on the preparation for our future careers in the corporate world. One of the talks on the topic of financial planning was given by Jonathan Quek from MAXIMAS Training Consultancy. It was a very refreshing and insightful talk for me as I had very little foundational knowledge of financial planning. Even though all the attendees are young adults, Jonathan managed to make it concise for a better understanding of financial planning throughout the whole session. There was advice on “WHY should we invest?”, “WHAT is investment all about?”, “WHEN should we start investing?” and lastly on the proper methods of investing. One of the positive aspects that made Jonathan’s talk interesting was the high level of interaction. The viewers were not only listening to him but all of us had the opportunity to voice out our opinions and perspectives. Furthermore, there were several reflections done throughout the session for the purpose of getting to know ourselves better and which category we fall into. They were personal reflections to better understand our strengths and weaknesses. Apart from that, he actually opened up our minds to make us realize what we want to become in future, and how financial planning plays an important role in our lives. His talk has been one of the best which I have attended and it certainly motivates me to start investing at a young age. Well done Jonathan and MAXIMAS!!!
